I am Akintoye Ramlat Omotilewa, a Batch B serving Corp member in Ogun State OG/11B/08..) and I feel delighted to write this article and share it with my fellow corp members and youths in general, why we must WAKE-UP and put on the thinking CAP and have clear set goals to life.

What really prompted me, are the facts that youths really need full orientation to correct this

ugly situation, you may want to ask me what this ugly situation is. Do you know that over 70,000 corp members passed out in a BATCH and we have three (3) BATCHES (Batch A, B, and C), totaling 210,000 corp members (youths) joining Labour market or become jobless every year.

The youths could however correct this ugly situation if they embrace vocational skills like Soap
making, Hat making, Bead Making, Fashion Designing, Hair dressing/barbing, Make-up Artist, Cake designing, Event planning, etc. that could make them to be self-reliant and job creators rather than seek after white-collar jobs that are scanty, unsuitable and security on the job is no longer guaranteed. You may also wish to consider the annoying part of seeking employment as fresh graduates, where the employee/interviewers requires working experience of 2-5 years which you obviously may not possess. The only working experience you can boast of is actually year of non-working experience which no organization needs. This shows clearly that as a youth, this is best time to make up your minds on what to do for a living rather than wait for white-collar jobs which are no longer within reach.

It is never too late, to start your own business, what you need is a realistic BUSINESS IDEA…
the seed and starting point of all riches. When your idea is well rooted and nurtured, you beginning to grow and you will be in control of your time, work when you want to work, rest when you want to and travel when and where you like.

Start with what you have now, don’t wait until you have millions before you start, there are
some businesses you can start with less than #20,000.00, when you see yourself as a self-employed, you develop an entrepreneur mentality, the mentality of highly independent, self–responsible, self-stating individual. Instead of waiting for things to happen, you make things happen and you see yourself as the Boss of your own life, this is the mindset of self–made millionaires all over the world.

Dear reader, it is your own turn to make history in your lifetime, find a niche or need and
fill the need in your immediate environment, this may be a small beginning for you but know that ordinary men have achieve extra-ordinary things in this same world and there are rooms for more.

Word of advice to Nigerian youths on being self-employed,

…they should be more serious. Nigeria of today is not looking for people who are looking for jobs but people who can create jobs. So, they should position themselves as problem solver….
